Day 17 Luang Prabang early arrival

Travelling from Hoay Xai to Luang Prabang we were given two choices - the slow boat along the Mekong river that takes 2 full days with a hotel halfway to LP or a VIP overnight bus. We decided on the VIP bus to save some time. What a mistake! The road from HX to LP is full of sharp curves and potholes like we've never seen before. At one of the multiple stops along the way, the bus driver helped a traveler load his moped onto the bus and push it down the aisle before parking it right next to Heidi! Needless to say she wasn't too happy especially since the motor was still hot! After our 14 hours journey we arrived in LP at 4 am in the morning. Luckily our hotel was nice enough to check us in. We slept till noon and then hit the town.
