Day 20 - Hanoi, Vietnam

The temperature today in Hanoi is 33° but "feels like" 42° so we were melting as we walked around Hanoi. We tried to get into the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where their former leader is laid to rest. He's on display until 11am each day but unfortunately they close the gates at 10:15. We arrived at 10:16!  We didget into the Ho Chi Minh Museum which gave an excellent account of Vietnamese history during time of French colonialism. The French were not portrayed very highly but obviously Ho Chi Minh was. If you need a history lesson like us try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho_chi_mihn

Next we went to the Temple of Literature which used to house the first university of Vietnam. Now it is a tribute to various teachers including Confucius.

Army Museum was next on our journey. Nothing spectacular inside but the Vietnamese enjoy showing how many American and French jets have been shot down over the years. They even had a nice collection of them crammed together just outside the museum. We did have fun climbing the Flag Tower.
